Maligaya Beach Bungalows is worth considering if you want a small beachfront base in Corong Corong and expect to spend time enjoying the view. I liked the comfortable room, strong air-conditioning and friendly staff during my stay with a friend. Before booking, though, I would check the bathroom layout and reconfirm the airport pickup: both affected our experience.

- Compare a town address if: your main priority is minimizing journeys to your chosen restaurants and tour meeting points.
I would shortlist Maligaya again for a trip where the accommodation is part of the holiday. The view outside our room was something we kept returning to throughout the day. If you expect to leave before breakfast and return only to sleep, that benefit may matter less than the location of your daily departures.
Corong Corong location: the view was part of the stay
We chose Corong Corong because we wanted to be near the sea without being too far from town. On our trip, the tricycle ride between town and the property took roughly five to ten minutes. Treat that as my experience, not a fixed transfer time: the exact pickup point and traffic can change the journey.
The property’s own website places Maligaya on Corong Corong beachfront in El Nido. It advertises private terraces facing the sea. Match the photos and view description to the exact room you reserve rather than assuming that every room has the same outlook.
What I enjoyed most was seeing how the water and light changed from morning onward. Around midmorning was especially beautiful during our stay. That is why I would leave some unscheduled time at the accommodation rather than fill every daylight hour with an outing.
A beachfront address alone does not establish swimming conditions, how easy boarding a tour boat will be, or whether your tour departs nearby. Confirm the meeting point with the operator before using the hotel’s location to plan a morning departure.
The room: comfortable basics, with a privacy question
Our room felt clean and welcoming. The air-conditioning was strong, the bed was comfortable, and we had enough hot water. There were water bottles, tea bags and a safe in the room. These were useful everyday comforts after being outside, rather than reasons to expect a large full-service resort.
The bathroom in our room did not have a door. If you are sharing with a friend, this is one of the first details I would ask about. I cannot assume the layout is identical in every current room, so request a photo or a specific answer for the category you intend to book. A listing that says “private bathroom” does not, by itself, answer whether that bathroom is fully enclosed within the room.
The hotel currently advertises air-conditioning, a fan, minibar, television, safe, king-size mattress and Wi-Fi. I would not infer twin beds or dependable remote-work speeds from that amenity list. If either matters, ask before choosing a nonrefundable rate.
Outside, we found a bamboo rack useful for drying clothes and a place in the courtyard to rinse off sand. There was also a hot-and-cold water dispenser in the reception area during our stay. Those small practical details made returning from an outing easier.
Arrival: reconfirm the pickup and the final approach
My friend had arranged an airport pickup, but it was missed. We waited at the airport before making alternative arrangements. We also saw a posted tricycle fare board at the time; I would check the current information on arrival instead of budgeting around the old prices.
For a new booking, get the pickup arrangements in writing: flight number, arrival time, meeting point, contact number, total charge and what to do if the driver is absent. Reconfirm shortly before travel. If arranging a replacement ride, agree on the fare and destination before leaving.
The final approach to the accommodation involved a bamboo-lined path. We liked its atmosphere, and staff helped with our luggage when we arrived. Travelers using a wheelchair or bringing heavy bags should ask about the current route, steps and vehicle drop-off point; my experience does not establish step-free access.
We arrived early, before our room was ready. Staff welcomed us with tea and suggested places nearby while we waited. I would still plan around the check-in time on a new reservation rather than assume an early room will be available.
Breakfast, staff and extras
The staff were a highlight for me, from reception to housekeeping. During our stay, breakfast cost extra and could be ordered the night before. The current website advertises breakfast served on the terrace, but whether it is included depends on the booking you select. Check the rate details and ordering arrangements.
At the time, the accommodation could help arrange tours, call a tricycle and organize a scooter rental. We could also borrow large towels for boat outings. Treat these as services to reconfirm, including any charges or deposits, rather than guaranteed inclusions.
Extras were settled in cash at checkout during our stay. That does not establish the current policy for paying for the room or for every booking channel. Ask separately how the accommodation charge, deposit and on-site extras are paid, and whether any balance must be in Philippine pesos.
If asking reception to arrange an island-hopping trip, confirm the operator, pickup or meeting point, inclusions and cancellation terms. Help with a reservation is convenient, but it does not mean every tour leaves from the same beach or follows the same route.

- Room and privacy: exact category, view, bed setup and whether the bathroom has a door.
- Total cost: taxes, breakfast, deposits and cancellation terms for your dates.
- Payment: how the room is charged and how extras are settled at the property.
- Arrival: current check-in time, late-arrival arrangements, airport pickup and final walking access.
- Any essential amenity: access requirements, connectivity or a service you are relying on.

Would I choose it for a solo trip?
I stayed with a friend, so I cannot describe this as a tested solo stay. For someone traveling alone, the room cost without a companion to split it with and the arrangements for returning in the evening deserve particular attention.
I would ask about reception availability, the evening approach to the property and help arranging transport. Friendly service during my visit is useful context, but it does not answer every practical question for a different arrival time or traveler.
My verdict
Maligaya worked well for the beachside trip we wanted: a comfortable room, a sea view worth slowing down for and staff who made us feel welcome. The bathroom layout and missed pickup are the two details I would resolve before returning. If those arrangements suit you, it is a worthwhile Corong Corong option to compare with accommodation closer to your tour meeting points.
